Equine Sports Massage

Having identified how important it was to help horses develop physically in a correct way, Michelle trained with the world-renowned Mary Bromley MBE and qualified with a level 3 Diploma in Equine Sport Massage.

Like any athlete, horses gain huge benefits from regular sports massage treatments. These include:

  • Everyday wellbeing: Aids mental relaxation, improves circulation, reduces chances of injury, increases suppleness and range of movement, and identifies potential problems
  • Post work: Minimises stiffness, speeds tissue repair, relaxes muscle spasms
  • Post injury: Aids natural recovery, restores joint and muscle flexibility, stimulate inactive muscles during periods of restricted exercise

Treatments include:

Targeting specific problems
Advice on helpful massage techniques you can use regularly
Advising on exercises you can do both ridden and in-hand to help improve your horse’s suppleness
Guidance on how regularly a horse may benefit from treatments

Treatment costs:

Initial assessment and sports massage:£50
Follow up appointments:£40

“Michelle has been massaging my horses since gaining her qualification and particularly in one case she has made a grumpy (and sore) middle aged gelding very happy. His way of going has improved enormously; he is softer, rounder and more forward. He is beginning to use himself properly again after having had a cruciate ligament injury 14 months ago. He has a massage once every two weeks in combination with chiropractic therapy and this keeps him straight, supple and flexible.”

“Michelle is methodical in her work, takes notes and compares them before and after each session and is as delighted as the owner when there is obvious improvement in the horse’s muscle tone and way of going. I would thoroughly recommend her.”
